Singapore, 21 June 2019 – CIO Academy Asia is hosting its 4th Edition of the ConnectGov Leaders Summit in Edinburgh Scotland on the theme of ‘Navigating the Data Economy’
Many are well familiar that deep technology-related disruptive forces are re-shaping the world and all the evidence suggest that the pace of these technologies is accelerating. From governments to businesses; from communities to individuals; no one can avoid the digital tsunami that is impacting countries, industry sectors, companies and at individual level, workers as well. At the same time, businesses and governments have woken up to new possibilities that the emerging technologies can act as major game changers for the delivery of better services to their respective stakeholders. In this shifting and dynamic operating environment, more than 100 technology and business leaders from Asia and Europe will come together in Edinburgh for the ConnectGov Leaders Summit from 8-10 July 2019.
The CIO Academy Asia (CIOAA) is hosting its fourth ConnectGov Leaders Summit in Edinburgh, positioned as the data capital of Europe. In the areas of technology, the UK attaches high priority on innovations and the 2018 Global Innovation Index published by INSEAD, Cornell University and WIPO puts UK as the 4th most innovative economies in the world. This clearly represents a major opportunity to collaborate on the digital economy and CIOAA believes the Summit allows a platform to realising this collaboration between the technology leaders of ASEAN and the UK.
After earlier successful editions held in Bhutan, Mongolia and Estonia, CIOAA is excited that Edinburgh, Scotland is the venue for the Summit. Edinburgh has positioned itself well as a leader in the digital space with huge investments in creating a vibrant data ecosystem . This strategic thrust has brought early success and the city was recently named the UK’s top city for start-ups and attracts more foreign investment than any other technology cluster in the UK, outside of London.
Over the 3-days summit, senior C-level leaders from Asia and Europe will discuss and share insights to the challenges of the Data Economy. The Summit will hear experts from leading technology companies like Google Cloud, RSA, Citrix, Nutanix, Veritas and Menlo; senior executive participants from esteemed public and private sector organisations. The Summit will also hear from world-renowned expert in robotics, Professor Sethu Vijayakumar who was a judge on the popular BBC series Robo Wars in the UK, and which was also screened in more than 45 countries.
Senior government and business leaders will deep-dive into data-driven issues and receive first-hand insights through experiential site visits and interactions with Scottish agencies, officials and industry leaders who are propelling Scotland’s data initiatives. They will visit key Edinburgh innovation sites such as the University of Edinburgh’s Data-Driven Innovation Hub; FinTech Scotland, and CodeBase, UK’s largest start-up incubator, and home to more than 100 of the country’s best technology companies.
CIOAA is appreciative of the strong backing of the Scottish Development International/ Scottish Enterprise in the organisation of the Summit in Edinburgh.
